Listening

What can be gained from listening to the quiet voice inside of you. It is called intuition and to some it is a jewel while to others it is a curse. The subliminal voice is sparked by spontaneity. It is the moment when the creative process is about to bring something from the ethereal world into the real world. But for most of us it is a creative process that never succeeds in getting out of the genesis stage of creation.

Is spontaneity a good thing or a bad thing ? Can intuitive decision making be a bad thing ?

Intuition and the Creative Process

The subconscious remains little understood even in our age of nanotechnology and nanobiology. By many standards it remains the realm of dreams and to some the realm of spirituality and the playground of demons and angels. To scientist such as psychologists (Freud, Jung) who study mental processes as they apply to human behaviour it is an archive of memories and the portal of emotions and of thought creation. It is what makes a personality.

The quiet voice inside of you to some is a measure of insanity coined by the scientific community under any of the following terms.

  • Multiple personality disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Dependent
  • Narcissistic
  • Avoidant
  • Antisocial
  • Schizoid
  • Schizotypal
  • Paranoid
  • Obsessive Compulsive

All of these personality disorders make it possible that listening to the quiet voice inside of you might be similar to listening to the demons in the deeps of the playground.

Artificial Drug Induced Intelligence

When considering that drug induced psychosis which often results in black outs where the person goes on a madness mission of vendetta which often stops at nothing but death for all or by the confinement of the madman or madwoman then belief that listening to intuition and being spontaneous might be wrong is supported.

But certainly not everyone is mad and not everyone is marked with a personality disorder that could be set off by listening or obeying to the first thought that came to mind. Or could we?

Careful!!! A yes answer to that question puts you in the group who believe that we have all gone mad ?

In December of 2008 in Hernando Today there was an article called A Drugged Nation is not Healthy where it was reported that many of today's youths have lost their fate in the conventional drug pusher opting instead for a better fix from the world of prescription drugs.

Makes one wonder just how good prescription drugs are at inducing altered states of mind. Anti-psychotics are mood altering drugs. The article goes deeper into the almost abusive ways that these anti-psychotics are used in the elderly populations even when these seniors have never been diagnosed of any personality disorder. The standing order is a very profound order and carries ethical questions.

Intuition however cannot be that dirty of a word.

What does it mean to be spontaneous ?

Think of yourself as an Improv comedian. The best that you have at any moment in your act is what you collect from your intuitive playground. The quiet voice inside of you has to be awakened and alert for it must be called upon for creative comments at any time. The best Improv comedians live or die by spontaneity and intuition. Many of these funny people honed there fiery tongue in Hell's Kitchen in New York City where Budd and Silver Saunders Friedman had founded the improvisation comedy club called the New York Improv.

Yes comedians are crazy characters. Think Rodney Dangerfield, Richard Prior, Andy Kaufman, Ron Carey, and so many more. While it is true that many of these people did the occasional recreational drug induction, certainly they could not have all been labelled with a personality disorder even when they seemed to be able to tap into many personalities in the playground of the subconscious.

Blogger Scott H Young writes on getting more out of life and in an article called 7 tips to Live a More Spontaneous Life he states the following.

Spontaneity takes work.

What does it mean to be intuitive ?

"Intuition is a mental faculty that allows you to know the answer without getting to it in a logical, linear way" says Nina Gibson who is runs intuition workshops. She is college trained and a highly successful service consultant with clients like the Federal Aviation Administration and the Space Shuttle program. She may just know what she is talking about. Intuition is that "gut feeling" which is often the essence of some of the most fantastic inventions and discoveries.

The voice inside knows something and wants to be heard but the education system is not really the place to learn how to tap into a world that is situated somewhere outside of the parameters of linear thinking. This is especially true in pure science fields. Poets belong in liberal arts courses so the educational system is not completely void in courses where intuition is ignored.

One could go so far off on a tangent when talking about stuff like dreams, intuition, linear thinking vs abstract thinking. For example, the world before the Academy of Plato in the 4th century BC was riddled by poet philosophers. Dreamers no less. The dreamers like Homer and Hesiod were shut down and their stories remain with us as mythological legends of a time that we believe to have only ever existed in the land of OZ. The new rule after Plato was one where logical thought and linear thinking was the only reality worth believing. Everything else was poetry and muse. Poiesis was dead but today it is finding revival in a term called mutagenesis.

Back to reality and intuition and the sublime quiet voice inside of you.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

That question is debated in many circles where the subject of consciousness is discussed. Are those that tell us of a new realm of consciousness becoming us through a connection with intuition our of their minds ? Words like ascension and fourth density are often found in the fiery tongues of these new age thinkers. If they are correct in thinking that the human cocoon is about to morph through some type of mutation of the thought process then the future of mankind is certainly a show that I can't wait to see.

Mutagenesis and Poiesis....now I have two favorite words. It's all like Back to the Future inside the time machine where the past repeats itself. Where mythological creatures trapped in the inner playground of the deepest dungeons of the psyche are released to take on the realists numbers.

How entertaining.
