how much money does hubpages earn

Out of curiosity I was looking into hubpages early history and asked myself how much money does hubpages earn. I see the subject of earning money by writing hubs come up often on the forums therefore I went and did some research.

These were my findings.

To the question - Do you know who the CEO and founder of hubpages is ?

I found my answer to this question and to several other questions that pertain to hubpages and to starting up a business from an article in Business School Journal called Try Things, Do More - Interview with Paul Edmondson, Founder of Hubpages.com.

The progress of hubpages was much quicker than CEO Edmondson had initially anticipated. While the article is not dated it does specify that at time of print 100 thousand hubbers were writing content rich hubs which were being clicked 5 million times a month through search engine searches like Yahoo and Google. Yield build which is the ad optimization bot that is used served 200 million ads in the month prior to the article. That is a wonderful achievement from a company that went live in August of 2006. Not to bad for what Mr. Edmondson calls a trial and error process from the mind of a determined moderately educated software programmer and database designer. ( writing API programs --- hmm!!! maybe i can look him up to write a good trading API for me ).

The start up investment was in the area of 2 million dollars and came from Hummer Winblad.

In 2009 the traffic is at nearly 14 million hits per month worldwide while the US internet surfer brings in about 8 million of that. Those numbers are found on Wikipedia.

Hire good people and look past stereotypes of what success is along with "just going for it" seems to be the advice of Paul when asked what makes the wheels of business run.

Numbers can be a very tricky thing.

For example I used websiteoutlook.com to find out more about hubpages stats.

What did I find ?

Hubpages estimated worth is in the area of 9 million dollars. Now if I put on my investors cap and consider a 2 million dollar investment quadrupling in 3 years i'd say "Where is the cloning machine" and "get me some more of those Edmondson's" and things like that.

Now it has to be understood that certainly hubpages has had to use some of this worth to pay staff and to do those other things that keeps internet based businesses running but even a 10 percent return per year would be a good business to invest in.

What else was I able to get from my trip to website outlook ?

Well we hubbers are all told that backlinks are the envy of search engines. Well try 50000 as a starting number. Huppages.com has fifty thousand banklinks, whoops, I meant backlinks. Again a number found of website outlook is 3780068. This one states that the daily hubpages viewed is nearly 4 million. As stated before numbers and stats can be deceiving. If wikipedia says 9 million per month and the other guy says 4 million per day then who is lying.

Maybe I am missing something so give or take a few million doesn't really make a big diff.

The pageview number is big enough to rank them website number 291 for traffic rank and score them a 6 for pageRank.

That is really incredible. My hubber hat and my investor hat is off to the host. 

So I now have a general answer to "how much money does hubpages earn".

But there is another question that is found almost weekly on the forums and that question usually goes something like "How much money can I earn from hubpages and adsense revenue?".

The API Yield program is a bot that manages the 60/40 profit sharing Adsense program.

But just how much is the 60 and just how much is the 40.

Again from a stat that is available at website outlook I found out that the daily Adsense revenue for hubbers and hubpages is about 11 thousand dollars. You heard right...11000.

Now 11000 times 365 is just over 4 million dollars annually.

Forty percent of this is 1.6 million. So logic has it that the group of hubbers gets to share 2.4 million dollars annually.

That's a big chunk of money. It's like sharing a lottery winner with 100 thousand other hubbers.

Now that requires a little calculating. Believe however that the end result is that each of the 100 thousand hubbers should expect to earn about 24 dollars per year.

Now that's not a bad return on investment either if you consider the little time and effort that it takes to write a hub. Some hubbers have hundreds of them and the best hubbers are said to earn hundreds per month........

Just keeping it real!!!!

But really, while making hubs is a good hobby. who in their right mind would consider it has anything else than a hobby and a tool to learn with while doing research on topics that interest you.
