Is it a planet or a brown dwarf ? Nibiru

Is Nibiru a planet or a brown dwarf star or is it just another imagined celestial body?

The name Zecharia Sitchin is likely to come up often when researching an answer to those questions. Sitchin has been writing about the alternate history of humanity for decades now and to him the Nibiru planet plays a major role in our function as humans.

But there is yet no real proof that such a cosmic body exists therefore no logical proof that we are genetically modified biological earthlings as Sitchins' suggests.

The year 2012 and all of it's mysteries is adding momentum to the argument.

What is Nibiru planet X ?

Is it a planet or a brown dwarf ?

Binary star systems

Binary star systems have not one sun such as ours but two such nuclear energy sources. We earthlings never give that much thought but it is a known fact to astronomical experts and astrophysical experts that the universe is home of many binary star systems and even to multiple star systems. Our solar system is by our current knowledge a single star system. The double star system can be a visual double star but not all binary star systems are. Some are optical doubles or optical pairs.

If Nibiru is a brown dwarf then it most likely falls in the category of a visual double.

Why a visual double and not an optical double ?

Visual double star systems have pairs of stars that are close together in the sky whereby optical binary star systems only seem to be close together from our viewing point on earth or through the use of our space centered telescopes such as Hubble.

In reality however a visual binary star system is a complete system where the pair of stars are attached together through the forces of gravity and magnetism. The pair has a bond. This bond is an orbit and that orbit has a time frame. The pair has a primary star and a secondary star.

We earthlings would only see the second star in our sky if we happened to be living in the right generation.

Why ?

Because the cosmic clock chimes on a much longer scale than what we are accustomed to thinking of time as we carry out our day to day activities.

The planet Nibiru or the brown dwarf Nibiru ?

What is a brown dwarf star ?

VLMS - very low mass stars

Brown dwarfs are actually not brown but dark or dull red. They lack the chemical functions to provide the star with nuclear fusion and they are believed to lack the mass that most stars have. The brown dwarf is sometimes categorized as being an intermediate star or a sub-stellar object with a mass that lies somewhere between that of a star and of a planet. They are generally bigger than planets but smaller than other stars.

The argument as to whether a brown dwarf could support planets or not is an ongoing one. An article on Centauri-Dreams raises the question of whether or not these dull red mass deficient dwarfs could support planetary systems.

Interestingly enough, in the same article we find out that binary star systems are normally made up of two companions that are relatively equal in mass. The double star system where the primary star is brilliant and the secondary star is without mass or nuclear fusion is an exception.

Back to Sitchin and Nibiru or Planet X...

Sitchin never states any direct relation between the great year of change 2012 and the orbital path of planet X or Nibiru as he calls it. He does however suggest that such a cosmic companion and member of the solar system would likely have an elliptical orbit with a cycle of 3600 years.

Planet of brown dwarf ???

Zecharia Sitchin calls Nibiru a planet and not a brown dwarf star. It is a planet associated with an overlord found in Babylonian cosmology called Marduk. Sure enough this is the alternate history version and definitely not selected reading for mainstream school science class but in light of what schools taught students about the shape of the earth in the past then any theory as merit. Especially when it involves cosmic time and the shaping of humanity relative to the creation of cosmic bodies.

More on planet X...

It was in 1846 that the planet Neptune was discovered. The orbital path of Neptune was plotted and it fit in nearly perfectly with the other known solar planets. However, science is about the continuation of exploration and of mapping new ground in any subject.

Percival Lowell who lived from 1855 to 1916 was an astronomer, mathematician, author, and businessman who questioned the known reality. He hypothesized about Planet X was situated somewhere beyond Neptune and it was responsible in displacing both Uranus and Neptune.

Lowell's hypothesis was ripped to shreds when a small planet which we once called Pluto was discovered several years after his death. The world now had a name for Planet X which Lowell wrote about. But it later became known that Pluto's gravity on Neptune and Uranus is negligible therefore the search for the mysterious Planet X which Sitchin calls Nibiru continued.

Some studies made with data collected from Voyager 2 as it made a flyby Neptune has been used to prove to an extent that the displacement of Uranus and Neptune where caused by natural gravity between the two solar orbs. This was enough evidence to convince many scientists that Planet X is no more than a figment of the imagination.

So should the question be put to rest ?

Is it pure science fiction and imagination or is there a planet or brown dwarf approaching earth or distancing itself from earth ?

It seems that there is no lack of amateur opinion out there to try to convince us of one or the other. It seems that everyone wants their turn at pulling an old H G Wells radio address to bring us into first contact with our companion which may or may not exist.

Time will tell. Cosmic time never lies...

Planet or Brown Dwarf or just nothing at all....

Interesting stuff - but I must confess to being on the skeptical side myself. Just seen that wonderful National Geographic DVD "A Journey to the Edge of the Universe" which I found totally engrossing.

Thanks for sharing this interesting issue.

tonymac04 I have yet to see that NG documentary. I have to put that on my list of to do. I am also very skeptical but I am open minded. I was researching an article on Universe today about the chances of Planet X or Nibiru existing..Interesting - you might want to see my thoughts on that.

alternate history is indeed very interesting - Sitchins will definitely make you think twice about what normal people thought you in history school - whether he is correct is an opinion that is challenged by many

A lot of people assume that Sitchin points to 2012 with Nibiru which is a fallacy....

childofgod...this hub is not making conclusions about anything. It is simply a reflection on what might or might not be Planet X or Nibiru

Yes I think this brown dwarf exists and if in an elliptical orbit it has to accelerate[to what speeds??] moving towards the sun. So let's see if WISE will find ons say 1 light year away.....I would say trouble!!!The astronomers already believe that there can be brown dwarfs closer than Alfa Centauri which is 4.5 Light Years away.

We are thinking along the same lines Andor.

I recently made a post called about predicted comet encounters on my 2012 blog mentioning David Morrison's, NASA Ames Research spokesman, comments on the 2012 hype about there being NO threat to humanity in that year due to cosmic collisions.

Thanks for the heads up on the WISE NASA site.

Interesting way to approach the subject, what I found most interesting is what was left out . . . the ancient Sumerians knew of the planet Jupiter and yet modern science didn't recognize it until 1930.

For the Sumerians, Nibiru (Planet of the Crossing) was the 12th Planet (they included the Sun and Moon). Sitchin was 'allowed' to reveal to us that Nibiru had an orbit of roughly 3,600 years and was also 'allowed' to give us a relative approximation of the last time it was here in our solar system.

For those paying attention the rest is pretty easy to figure out, however the warnings mankind has been given over the last 3,000 years are too numerous to name here.

Suffice to say Sitchin only confirms what many have figured out on their own.

Often times books of fiction are written to reveal concepts and events that mankind may not be ready for and to avoid current scientific ridicule.

My contention is that any concept or idea that is scientifically ridiculed is done so for a reason, the truth stands alone and cannot be altered.

However by combining just enough of the truth with a lot of unprovable theories, one can easily be deceived.

Read just about any of my Hubs to get a glimpse of what I believe . . .
