search for adam and eve

This topic called search for Adam and Eve is by no means a religious dialogue.

The topic of Adam and Eve often brings about thoughts of religion since the two characters who are popularly named as the first male and female specimen of our species are the same characters used in biblical text. But this isn't about religion.

The search for Adam and Eve is about the first human or humans.

More specific It is about a specific theory called Mitochondrial Eve.

My apologies to those who came here looking for the adult tv series called the "search for Adam and Eve" where adults compete to become the next most popular adult sex movie stars.

We can all agree on one thing we are here and we are human. The rest is almost certainly only speculation.

In the mitochondrial Eve theory there existed a single women on planet earth who, should she be alive today, could boast of being the mother of all other earthlings. From the initial Eve all other human genetic material is descended. This is possible because of the mitochondrial DNA which only women carry in their cells. If mitochondrial Eve did exist as the theory goes then the genetic code imprinted in her cells have divided and replicated themselves in generation after generation since her time on earth.

But where on earth would Eve have been located ? 

According to the primary author of an article written in 1987 the original Eve came out of Africa some 200 thousand years ago. That authors name is Rebecca Cann and the article was printed in Nature under the heading of Mitochondrial DNA and human evolution.

Cann did not outright state that Eve of Africa was a single person therefore it is possible that she was using the collective females of a tribe.

Cann was a professor at the University of Hawaii at the time and she was working on this theory with co authors, Professors at Berkeley - Allan Wilson and Mark Stoneking.

If the theory is correct then the search for Adam and Eve fixes humanities roots, or sets the earliest cradle of civilization, in Africa.

Nucleus DNA is that genetic material within a cell which regulates the function of the cell. With nutrients such as hormones, proteins, and other stuff, nucleus DNA carries out its task. DNA works at the nucleus of a cell. This nucleus is surrounded by a matrix of plasma called cytoplasm. The mitochondria is an organelle found in the plasma matrix. The mitochondria are energy units and use a specific type of DNA or mtDNA.

When a mother passes her genetic code to a child that matrix code will be a complete copy. However as chance would have it the occasional change occurs. That is evolution. That is how humans differ from race to race according to some theories of evolution.

We are mutations....or are we!!!

MRCA is an acronym for Most Recent Common Ancestor.

mt-MRCA is how researchers refer to mitochondrial Eve of Africa. The mt refers to mitochondrial.

Again if Cann etal. are correct then the mt-MRCA found in Eve of Africa is also partly recognizable in all living humans spanning every generation to today.

The theory goes on to explain how the Adam MRCA or patrilenial influence came into being later but I will leave that to the reader to look up.

The original article printed in Nature named "mitochondrial Eve and Human Evolution" found a niche. The subject was later written about in Time magazine under the heading of Everyone's Geneological Mother and again later in Newsweek under The Search for Adam and Eve.

It is an interesting theory but it isn't without opposition as the following article entitled The Demise of Mitochondrial Eve suggests.
